Sysco awards selected college-bound children of our associates with scholarships from John F. and Eula Mae Baugh to offset the costs of a four-year college or university. Applicants to the John F. and Eula Mae Baugh Sysco Scholarship must be:

  • Dependent children* (up to age 24) of full-time Sysco associates who have a minimum of five years of employment with Sysco or their acquired company at the application deadline
  • High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States, Canada, The Bahamas or Ireland
  • Have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at time of application/renewal.

*Dependent children refers to natural or legally adopted children or stepchildren of the associate who qualifies for benefits provided by the company.

Scholarship awards are $3,000 and $5,000. The top six applicants who demonstrate financial need will receive an award of $5,000. Ten awards of $3,000 will be granted to the remaining top applicants.

Scholarship awards may be renewed for up to three years, or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continued employment of the student’s parent at Sysco Corporation.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Recipient Selection

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America, an independent, third-party administrator. Sysco officers or associates do not play any role in the selection process. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals, aspirations, unusual circumstances and an outside appraisal.

Applicants will be notified by June whether or not they have been selected to receive an award.
