You must be enrolled in a Sysco-sponsored national medical plan, administered by BCBS, to access these programs.

There will be changes to this benefit for 2022. See the What's Changing for 2022 page to learn more!

BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) administers behavioral health benefits and substance use benefits for associates in the Basic, HSA, PPO and National HMO medical plans. (If you enroll in a local HMO plan not administered by BlueCross BlueShield, contact your HMO provider for behavioral health coverage information.)

Behavioral health services may or may not be covered based on diagnosis, type of service, source of referral, treatment setting and type of provider. Some services may be covered at certain settings (such as at a counselor’s office) and not covered in a more intensive setting.

Deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums for behavioral health are combined with the medical deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums.

If you or a family member (over the age of 13) are seeking counseling or related professional office services, both virtual or in person, contact Spring Health at 1-240-558-5796 as you have up to 5 free therapy sessions. For more information, click on the Virtual Behavioral Health services page.

Covered Services

It is important that you and your provider consult with BCBS to determine if a service you are seeking is covered and, if so, at what level.

Pre-certification is required for inpatient services and non-standard services. If these services are not pre-certified, they will be subject to a penalty. To pre-certify, call BCBS at 1-866-491-4911.

Accessing Providers

When you need behavioral health treatment, you can access in-network providers over the phone or online. The best way is to call BCBS at 1-866-491-4911. Trained specialists will guide you through the process of accessing treatment. To find providers listed on BCBS’s website, go to
