Disability

Short-Term Disability (STD)
STD, administered by The Hartford, provides you with a portion of your income when you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Sysco provides an STD benefit of 50% of your eligible earnings if you have up to two years of service and 60% of your eligible earnings if you have two or more years of service.
For STD events, contact The Hartford. For more information, see the Leave of Absence page or review the plan document in the online enrollment tool under Health Benefits.
STD Benefits and State Leave
Several states offer residents paid leave benefits related to family leave and disability leave. Colleagues in these states must contact both The Hartford and their state for claims and funds processing. Some states cover the full amount of eligible leave payments, and some states cover a portion of eligible leave payments. Sysco Leave of Absence-related benefits (e.g., STD, pregnancy leave, parental leave) run concurrently with state-paid benefits.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)
The LTD administrator is The Hartford. At most Sysco locations, the company pays the full cost of LTD, which generally pays 60% of your basic pre-disability monthly eligible earnings if you become disabled, up to a monthly maximum of $5,000.
LTD pays benefits for an eligible disability that lasts more than 180 days. Benefits may continue to be paid based on age and type of illness. Limits apply for mental health and substance use disorder disabilities.
