FAQs

COBRA Benefits
What is COBRA?
The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) allows you and your enrolled dependents to maintain your health insurance after you leave Sysco. You will be responsible for the full premium amount and must enroll in coverage via the online Sysco Benefits Center within 60 days of your termination date.
What happens if I leave Sysco?
If you leave Sysco, your benefits will terminate as of your last day of employment. However, you will pay premiums through the end of the pay period. You should receive a Notice of COBRA Continuation within 30 days of your termination date, and you will have the option to enroll in COBRA coverage for certain benefits within 60 days of your termination date.
Which benefits are covered under COBRA?
Medical, Dental, Vision, and the Flexible Spending Accounts (HCFSA, LPFSA, and DCFSA).
Are any benefits portable if I leave or retire from the company?
If you leave Sysco, you can take the following benefits with you without having to sign up for COBRA:
- Supplemental Life and Voluntary AD&D Insurance
- Home and Auto Insurance
- Pet Insurance
- HSA
- Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity Plans
- Identity Theft Protection
- Legal Insurance
