Hospital Indemnity coverage, offered through MetLife, helps you cover some of your expenses by paying a benefit directly to you. If you are hospitalized, whether for an accident or illness, you are paid $2,000 for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission or $1,000 for a non-ICU admission. There is an additional benefit paid for each day you are in the hospital, $200 for an ICU confinement or $100 for non-ICU confinement, up to 30 days for an accident and up to 31 days for an illness.
After you receive a covered service, file a claim with MetLife to receive payment. Visit MetLife.com or call 1-800-438-6388. MetLife will send a check directly to you, so you can cover expenses like your medical insurance deductible, copays and coinsurance. See the plan details on MetLife.com for more information.
You can purchase Hospital Indemnity coverage for yourself and your eligible dependents, which include your spouse and dependent children until their 26th birthday. In order to elect the benefit for your dependents, you must also be enrolled. The cost of coverage can be found in the Total Rewards Café. Premiums will be deducted from your paycheck.
