Specialty prescriptions are uncommon but if you need one, it must be filled through CVS or by mail order and you’ll need to enroll in PrudentRx. Once you do, you’ll pay nothing for any medication on the plan’s Exclusive Specialty Drug List.

PrudentRx works with manufacturers to get copay assistance for your medications and handles all the details for you.

If you are eligible, you will receive a mailing to your home.

If you don’t enroll for PrudentRx, you’ll be responsible for 30% of the cost of your specialty medication.

On the Aetna Exclusive Specialty Drug List, you will find certain specialty drugs offered at $0 copays for those who enroll in PrudentRx.

The medications on the Aetna Value Drug list are covered under your plan from day one – even if you haven’t met your deductible. They include certain medications, supplements or products to:

  • Manage certain health conditions, like high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol
  • Help you quit smoking or stop using tobacco
  • And help you prepare for certain health screenings for adults

You can find the Aetna Value Drug List here.

If you (as a plan participant) receive a brand name drug in place of a generic in either of the situations below, you will pay the brand copay plus the cost difference between the generic drug and the brand name drug:

  • The doctor writes a prescription for a brand name drug and indicates the patient (plan participant) should not be switched to the generic.
  • The patient (plan participant) tells the pharmacist that they are only to have the brand name drug and that they do not want to be switched to a generic.

All of Sysco’s prescription drug benefits are administered through Aetna/CVS. Each of the medical plans offer the same prescription drug benefit with one exception: the HSA plan requires you to meet your deductible before the plan pays a portion of your costs.
