The Hospital Indemnity and Critical Illness benefits will now be administered by MetLife.

As we transfer your Hospital Indemnity coverage (if applicable) to MetLife, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • In 2019, employer-paid Hospital Indemnity coverage is being eliminated for participants in the Basic medical plan. If you’re enrolled in the Basic medical plan and would still like Hospital Indemnity coverage in 2019, you’ll need to make an active election during Annual Enrollment from October 8 – 22.‍
  • If you weren’t enrolled in the Basic medical plan in 2018 and you were enrolled in Hospital Indemnity coverage, you don’t need to do anything to continue your coverage from 2018, unless you’d like to waive or change coverage.

As we transfer your Critical Illness coverage (if applicable) to MetLife, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • If you’re enrolled in Employee Only or Employee + Child coverage, you don’t need to do anything to continue your coverage from 2018, unless you’d like to waive or change coverage.
  • If you’re enrolled in Employee + Spouse coverage and your coverage is less than your spouse’s, your coverage will increase to match your spouse’s coverage amount. If you wish to change your coverage, you’ll need to do so during Annual Enrollment from October 8 – 22

Also, if you’re enrolled in Legal Services through ARAG, the services covered are being enhanced—and there will be no rate increase.

The Hospital Indemnity insurance, offered by MetLife, helps you cover unexpected out-of-pocket expenses when you or a covered dependent are admitted to the hospital for a covered illness or injury. Critical Illness insurance, also provided by MetLife provides a lump-sum benefit if you or a covered family member is diagnosed with a covered illness, such as a heart attack or stroke. The lump sum can be used to help pay for expenses not covered by your medical plan.

The 2018 Wellness Rewards Program window ended on November 1, 2017. If you and your spouse completed the requirements by November 1, 2017, and earned your Wellness Reward for 2018, your reward will be deposited in your healthcare expense account in January 2018! Don’t be concerned if your Wellness Reward amount is not displayed in the enrollment system on the Total Rewards Café in 2017. Your 2018 Wellness Reward amount will not appear in the system until January 2018.

Please note: If you and your spouse completed the requirements early — by October 1, 2017 — and did not choose to receive your reward a different way during 2018 Benefits Enrollment, you will receive your reward as a credit to the medical plan premium taken from your paycheck each pay period in 2018.

Watch for information about the 2019 Wellness Rewards Program coming soon!
